Summary

Marty LaVenture is director of the Center For Health Informatics at the Minnesota Department of Health. Dr. LaVenture has been involved with the design, implementation and evaluation of numerous health information systems of over 25 years. Dr. LaVenture is currently leading the statewide Minnesota e-Health Initiative. Previously, Dr. LaVenture served as the assistant State Epidemiologist for Wisconsin Division of Health and he has also worked for a national private medical software corporation.

Nationally, Dr. LaVenture serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Biomedical Informatics and he is a member of the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) Public Health Informatics Policy Committee. He is a member of the National e-health foundation leadership council. He is the vice president of the national Public Health Data Standards Consortium organization, and he a member of the public health Davies award committee of the health information management systems society (HIMSS). Dr. LaVenture has authored or co-authored many articles and scientific publications, he has delivered numerous presentations to state and national audiences and he has received multiple awards for his work and accomplishments.
