The Institute for Health Informatics leads the interprofessional discovery, application, and teaching of health information sciences to improve the health of individuals and communities.

Our work focuses on three key areas:

  • Research: Our award-winning faculty lead research aimed at discovering new approaches to improving health through better use of information and information technologies.
  • Graduate Education: Our distinguished graduate program trains both practicing professionals and those who wish to enter the field. We offer advanced training in health information technology.
  • Community Engagement: We advise and collaborate with Minnesota-based, regional, and national health care providers and industry leaders as they apply information technology to developing and implementing new and better ways to generate, manage, access, understand, and use health-related information.
