The University of Minnesota’s Institute for Health Informatics (IHI) offers advanced informatics innovation and expertise to companies, academic institutions, healthcare organizations and the informatics community through consulting, education, collaboration and partnerships to improve patient outcomes and population health, reduce healthcare costs and improve clinician experience. For over 50 years, the IHI has been a center of innovation in bioinformatics, clinical informatics and healthcare data science.

IHI faculty and staff are well-respected, highly successful informaticists that have deep experience on the cutting edge of health informatics. The team differentiates itself by having significant expertise in healthcare focused data science and analytics, secondary use of electronic health record (EHR) data, translational bioinformatics, biomedical machine learning and natural language processing (NLP).  We also have access to University of Minnesota clinical translational scientists and clinicians in over 80 medical, nursing, pharmacy, dental and public health disciplines.  And we work closely with the University’s Data Science, Computer Science and other resources which can be mobilized to support projects.
