Susan Pleasants, MD, MBA is the Chief Medical Informatics Officer for M Health Fairview and Vice President of Informatics. She is a practicing physician in the primary care serviceline at M Health Fairview with a focus on acute and virtual care. She is dual boarded in Family Medicine and Clinical Informatics. Susan’s professional career has developed through a passion for clinical excellence, physician wellbeing and operational efficiency that have come together to form a career in informatics. She has responsibility for medical informatics across the ambulatory domain of care as well as focuses on provider efficiency, virtual care and patient access for the health system. She has spearheaded the development and implementation of virtual care across the enterprise from clinic-based virtual providers visits to inpatient consultation, remote patient monitoring and asynchronous online visits and continues to lead the strategy for virtual care as it rapidly expands. She has led successful initiatives in improving provider satisfaction and efficiency with use of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and continues to put focus on this as a key initiative to decrease caregiver burnout. In addition to clinically-oriented work, Susan has put significant focus on making care more accessible to patients through improved operational and technical workflows that support getting patients to the right setting of care at the right time and with the right provider.
